Simple Daisies

I had showed my cousin a picture of these daisy nails I had and she wanted a simpler version of them.

I used Barry M Pure Turquoise as the background colour and Barry M Matt White and Retro 4 Coral as the colour for the daisies. I think the colours go really nicely together and they look fun and almost Cath Kidston style. I just used a medium dotting tool to make the petals and centre of the daisies, a really easy yet effective technique!

Florals

I saw this top on tumblr from this blog and I thought it would look great as nail art!

I used acrylic paint again as I really think it helps create realistic flowers. I love how these nails look and I think I did an ok job with translating the image onto my nails. The acrylic paint dries fast which is good for layering the shadows and colours on the flowers and it looks as though they've been properly painted on so it looks like art on nails.

For the base colour I used Barry M Peach Melba and then for the acrylic paint I used a mixture of white, yellow, blue, brown and black.

Holographic Halos

So the other day I found the Gosh Holographic polish in stock in Superdrug so I HAD to buy some! This kind of design is called halo and I originally saw it as nails for the Chanel show with silver closest to the cuticle and pink for the main part of the nail but I thought I'd switch them around so I could showcase the holographic polish.

It's hard to capture the holographicness of the nails but they still look amazing in the photo. The Gosh polish is 549 Holographic Hero and from the thumb to little finger I used Barry M Bright Purple. Spring Green, Yellow, Strawberry Ice Cream and Blueberry Ice Cream.

Daisies

I decided to use acrylic paint for the flowers on these nails as I had been watching loads of tutorials that used acrylic paint and I wanted to see how they came out. I used Barry M Cyan Blue as the base colour and then used the acrylic paint on top of that. I used white paint for the flowers then the lighter shade of green for the leaves.

I found that the acrylic paint dries very quickly which meant that I was able to layer on top of the paint not long after making the whole manicure a quick one. I then used Barry M Retro 4 Coral as the centre of the daisies and made tiny dots on top of that in the flowers using Barry M Bright Red. I then used Barry M Racing Green to outline the leaves.

I really like how the acrylic paint went onto the nails and I think that it creates more of a realistic look than nail polish would. Plus it was sooo quick, I felt like I was dreaming! I think the colours of the daisies make them more interesting than regular daisies and the colours compliment each other. I had never used the Barry M Racing Green before and I realised that there was a slight shimmer to it which brightened up the dark leaves making them fun.

Conclusion? I will definitely use acrylic paint on my nails again, especially when creating florals.

3D Hearts

I had seen these nails on tumblr and as a lover of 3D nail art I knew I had to recreate them. I had some heart stickers that looked perfect for the job so I decided to go for it.

I used Barry M Pinky Caramel as the base colour which is my nude colour. I have never done framing before and I found it surprisingly easy and would choose to do it again. I used Barry m Lemon Ice Cream, Matt White, Bright Pink and Mint Green for all of the framing. The rhinestones I used were 1.5mm and the stickers were varying sizes from a pack of stickers from accessorize. I think that the nails look fairly similar to the original nails and as I'm obsessed with 3D things, I love how they look!

Pink Monochrome Spots

My cousin wanted to have pink nails with red spots on them. The colour I used for the base colour is Barry M but has no label on it for me to know exactly which colour it is but judging from my extensive searches I think it's Barry M Fuchsia and the spots are Barry M Retro 3 Red.

I used various sized dotting tools to create this look and used my OPI Nail Envy Base and Sally Hansen Insta Dry Top Coat. It was soooo hard to get the colours to show in the picture as the red and dark pink blended in together on camera so I had to use the flash to differentiate the colours.

Fun Summer Florals

So I've decided to create this blog so that I can go into more depth about the polishes I used and maybe do some reviews and swatches for you guys.

I thought I'd back track a little bit on my tumblr posts so that I can name the polishes I use as I tend to use a lot in one design.

For my base coat I use OPI Nail Envy which since I started using it has made my nails a lot stronger and has stopped my nails from peeling which was a major issue for me. I tend to use Barry M colours as they are amazing value and the consistence and colours are great. The base colour in this design is Barry M Matt White which I think is a good white as I think everyone finds it hard to find a white that isn't streaky or too thick. The green flowers are Rimmel Sea Green and I love this colour, especially as I'm in a green phase. The light blue is Rimmel Aqua Cool which is a gorgeous berry blue with a hint of lilac in. The yellow is Barry M Yellow, one of my favourite colours, the pink is Barry M Retro 4 Coral and the purple leaves and dots in the flowers is Barry M Vivid Purple which is a lovely rich purple.

I love these nails and they are so fun and summery and I love having floral nails!
